CALEA Virtual Assessment for Law Enforcement and CALEA Virtual Assessment for the Central Communications Center November 15, 2021 through November 17, 2021.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is scheduled for a virtual assessment as part of a program to continue accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedure, administration, operations, and support services. Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will begin their assessment of the Agency on November 15, 2021.
There will be a Public Call-In Session during the assessment. Agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling (941) 575-5340 on November 15, 2021, between the hours of 2:15pm - 4:15pm. Assessors will be readily available to speak with callers. Telephone comments are limited to five (5) minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA. For more information on the Public Call-In Session, please contact the Professional Compliance Division at (941) 575- 5340.
A Public Hearing will be held on November 16, 2021, beginning at 5:00pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS™ which may be accessed through cell phone or computer browser.
