Citizens' Police Academy
Sheriff Bill Prummell invites you to attend the next Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Citizens' Police Academy.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Citizens' Police Academy was established in January 1999.
The Citizens' Police Academy is a program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Sheriff's Office. We offer several types of classes throughout the year. Some will be during the day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 6 weeks. Another variation of the classes are during the evening from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for 9 weeks. Check with the program coordinator to see which class will be better suited to you, 941-575-5345.
Major Crimes, Use of Force, K-9, S.W.A.T., Forensics, Recruiting and meeting the Sheriff are examples of some of the topics that are covered. Instruction consists of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and ride along with a deputy.
We hope the graduates of the Citizens' Police Academy become more aware and better informed about how the Sheriff’s Office operates, and will encourage friends, coworkers and families to join the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in this rewarding program.
