Hydroponics Program

The mission of the Charlotte County Inmate Hydroponic Program is to provide the inmates with a working knowledge of agriculture in confined spaces. This provides a skill set, such as being self-sustaining, that inmates can use outside of the Charlotte County Jail, thus giving an inmate a viable opportunity upon leaving our facility to reintegrate back into our communities as productive citizens.

Also, by growing these vegetables, it provides food for the entire inmate population of the jail, while offsetting the cost to feed the inmates detained in our facility. Furthermore, this program is operated and funded from the Inmate Welfare Fund and does not cost the tax payers of Charlotte County one single tax dollar.
