Aquaculture/Fish Farm Program
The mission of the Charlotte County Aquaculture Program is to provide the inmates with a working knowledge of Aquaculture. This provides a skill set that inmates can use outside of the Charlotte County Jail, thus giving an inmate a viable opportunity upon leaving our facility.
By raising the Channel Catfish, it provides food for the entire population of the jail as well as offsets the cost to feed the persons detained in our facility.
The goal is to feed the inmate population two meals a month using the Catfish harvested from our own retention pond.
