Job Summary: The purpose of this job is to learn to process/process inmates in/out of the jail and monitor security cameras/radio traffic to ensure the safety and security of employees/authorized personnel and the facility.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs a variety of inmate booking activities, including verifying warrants, entering charges, generating “first appearance” lists, preparing inmate identification cards, reviewing inmate personal items/monies and verifying accuracy with inmate and updating various logs, records and electronic files.
Performs a variety of inmate release activities, including verifying inmates have received a bond/CTS, paperwork is signed, and all property/monies have been returned to inmate to facilitate a legal/timely release.
Staffs the Control Room, including answering phones, assisting customers at lobby window, accepting bonds, checking in visitors and ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed access to the facility.
Monitors the security cameras, radios and related equipment to identify and address all emergency traffic.
Monitors NCIC/FCIC terminal for wanted persons requests.

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and some office support, data entry or closely related work.
Physical Effort Required:
The work of this class primarily involves sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Working Conditions:
This class primarily works in an office setting.
