New Year's Resolutions
January 14, 2012
Happy 2012!
I hope everyone enjoyed their New Year's celebrations over the holiday weekend. Unfortunately, some people enjoyed them a little too much and were picked up for DUI by the Sheriff's Office, Punta Gorda Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol. The last thing I want to have to do is arrest anyone for DUI, but I will do it, as will all of my deputies. Let's make a new year's resolution to each other to not meet on the side of the road for a DUI investigation in all of 2012. That would be just great!
Since we are talking about new year's resolutions, let's talk about a few more.
In 2012, we resolve to continue our aggressive fight against drugs in our communities. That fight often starts with the street-level dealers, but it doesn't end there. We will continue to look for grow houses and drug labs. We will investigate leads and make arrests at all levels possible. We will work tirelessly to make Charlotte County a drug-free community.
We resolve to continue our traffic enforcement efforts. Many of the complaints we hear about involve traffic in some way: people speeding here and people running stop signs there. Our traffic enforcement unit specializes in dealing with these issues, but our efforts don't and won't end there. All of our law enforcement personnel are obligated to making our roadways a safe place, too.
In short, we resolve to continually commit ourselves to our vision for Charlotte County.
Thank you for your support and stay safe in 2012.
Your Sheriff,
Bill Cameron
